I love the space-age style and concept of this "carrier bike," the Zigo Leader. While I adore my tow-behind bike trailer, it's true that it's nearly impossible to hear or talk to my children when they're in it. The Zigo Leader solves this problem by putting kids up front in a "Child Pod" equipped with 5-point safety harness. The Pod can also convert into a standard or jogging stroller.
Aside from the steep price tag—$1350, plus more for accessories such as the jog-stroller kit—I know I'd miss the roomier storage area that I have in the traditional bike trailer. That's where I keep kids' backpacks, grocery bags, and so on. (This problem can be solved by buying more accessories—a rear rack and set of panniers!) Still, if you're a new parent and you're in the market for both a bicycle and a trailer or child seat, maybe the Zigo Leader is the solution for you.
Bev Sklar at That's Fit lists a couple of other unique kid-carrying solutions too.
