Definition:
Stability skills are motor skills involving balance and weight transfer. To master these skills, children must be able to maintain and adjust various body positions. Stability skills include:
- Static balance skills, stationary postures such as standing in place or balancing on one foot
- Dynamic balance skills, such as tumbling, stopping, dodging, landing (after a jump)
- Axial stability, such as bending, twisting, turning, swinging, or stretching
