What to Pack for a Day at the Beach
Use this beach packing list to remember the essentials for a day of sun and fun.

Your family's beach packing list will vary depending on your needs and interests, but this is a good place to start before you head out to the shore.

  • Sunscreen (reapply often, even if it is waterproof) and lip balm
  • Sunglasses
  • Hats
  • Umbrella, kids' tent, or other sun shade
  • Towels
  • Blanket and/or folding beach chairs
  • Cover-ups
  • Goggles
  • Flip-flops/water shoes
  • Swimsuits
  • Swim diapers
  • Clean underwear/diapers
  • Plastic bags for wet items
  • Shampoo
  • Combs
  • Padlock for lockers, and/or wearable, waterproof mini-safe for stashing valuables
  • Change/cash for vending machines/snack bar (or better yet—pack your own healthy snacks)
  • Water for everyone
  • Wipes
  • Sand/water toys (labeled with your name)
  • Balls or Frisbees (labeled with your name)
  • Insect repellent
  • Baby powder (helps remove sticky sand)
