On these special occasions, the National Park Service waives entrance fees.

Dates:

  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Weekend (next: January 18-20, 2014)
  • National Park Week (next: April 20-28, 2013)
  • First Day of Summer (every June 21)
  • National Public Lands Day (next: September 28, 2013)
  • Veterans Day Weekend (next: November 8-10, 2013)

Location: More than 100 U.S. national parks that normally charge entrance fees (nearly 400 more are free year-round)

Organizer: U.S. National Park Service

What to do: Visit participating national parks for free entrance fees along with other special events. Note that entrance, vehicle, and touring fees are waived, but other charges such as camping or reservation fees, and fees charged by vendors within the parks, may still apply.
