How I got started
When I married my fantastic wife I got the incredible bonus of two great sons! I was already a foster parent, so I needed to find something for us guys to do for "guy" time.
Why I love it
I have been studying various martial arts for over 10 years now. It never ceases to amaze me that the physical fitness level of a workout can be adjusted to meet the needs of the individual. In addition to the physical exercise, the huge benefit to a person's sense of self confidence is to me mind-blowing! This after having been a mental health counselor for almost 30 years!
Advice
- If you haven't found the right exercise program, or are looking for a way to get the entire family involved in a potentially lifelong and life-saving fitness program, consider Martial Arts classes. Many schools will give you a couple of free lessons. Local YMCAs or rec centers are another possibility.
